UA-59049186-1 Blackhawks 4, Sharks 1 - Good if it Goes

Blackhawks 4, Sharks 1

Box score (Yahoo)

The Blackhawks got out to a bit of a rough start, perhaps feeling the effects of their game last night in St. Louis. Just seventy-three seconds into the game, Joe Pavelski redirected a Brent Burns shot past Scott Darling to give the Sharks a 1-0 lead. As the period went on, the Hawks would find their legs and generate chances of their own. They would tie the game 16:49 into the period when Duncan Keith blasted a shot from nearly 60 feet out past Martin Jones for his first goal of the season. The 1-1 tie would hold throughout the second, where the Hawks didnt do very much and got out-shot 15-9. The difference in shot would be even greater in the third: 13-6 Sharks. Fortunately for the Hawks, half of their shots went in. First, Ryan Hartman scored off a face-off win by Vinnie Hinostroza just under seven minutes into the period. A little over ten-and-a-half minutes after that, Hinostroza himself found the back of net on a 2-on-1 where he had Marian Hossa with him. Finally, with 47 seconds to play, Patrick Kane scored on an empty net. A very unselfish pass by Artemi Panarin set him up. Meanwhile, Scott Darling stopped every shot that came his way in the period.

A few things

  • Artem Anisimov was out. Q had Jonathan Toews center Kaner and the Bread Man. The second line consistd of Hartman, Hinostroza, and Hossa. Makes sense – Hartman and Hossa have developed some chemistry and Hinostroza and Hartman made a good combination in Rockford.
  • Corey Crawford could end up playing Friday against Colorado.

My picks for 3 stars

★★★ Vinnie Hinostroza, F, CHI (1 G, 1 A)

★★ Ryan Hartman, W, CHI (1 G (GWG), 1 A)

★ Scott Darling, G, CHI (33 SV, 1 GA)
