CFB Picks Week 1

(Lines from FanDuel)

Ohio State -17.5 vs. Notre Dame

Let’s take a trip back in time to November 2016. The Game. Michigan vs. Ohio State. You know, the one where JT was short by 27-42 inches, somewhere in there? Michigan was 3rd in the country going into that game. Ohio State was 2nd. What’s this got to do with getting a lap dance at Urban Meyer’s restaurant? Michigan was a 6.5-point dog in that game. Notre Dame is 17.5! And the number was climbing! Vegas knows Notre Dame are frauds. They have no business being ranked as high as they are going into the season. It’s all hype and Ohio State’s going to pound them.

LSU -3.5 vs. Florida State (Game in New Orleans)

If you watched any LSU football over the last two years, you know how, quite frankly, stupid of a team they’ve been – dumb penalties, undisciplined, big yards given up at inopportune times, the whole deal. If Brian Kelly did nothing else this off-season besides smarten the team up and instill some discipline, the Tigers will roll. There’s talent down in Red Stick and while we still don’t know who’s going to be under center Sunday night, the Tigers have two solid options in Jayden Daniels and Garrett Nussmeier. Meanwhile, the Seminoles are susceptible to shooting themselves in the foot and Mike Norvell’s seat is red hot.

WVU +7.5 at Pittsburgh

This is just too many points for me to lay with Pittsburgh having to replace Kenny Pickett and Jordan Addison. Kedon Slovis is no slouch, but asking him to cover this in a rivalry game in week one in a new setting in a tough ask.

Utah -2.5 at Florida

Look, I get it – Gainesville’s a tough place to play, the Utes are going across the country, and it’s week one. That said, Utah is just a much better team than Florida right now. They’ll cover 2.5.
