Top 100 NBA Players of 2016: 30-21

  1. PG. Isiah Thomas – Boston Celtics
  • Miniature PG that plays way beyond his size. Carried the offensive load for a playoff team.
  • Very good scorer but Size limitations force him to do most of his damage as an outside jump shooter. Very skilled ball handler and very quick, can create necessary space to get his shot off even over bigger defenders.
  • Competes on defense but there’s only so much he can do on that end at his size.
  1. PF. Chris Bosh – Miami Heat
  • Career is in jeopardy because of a blood-clot condition.
  • Elite stretch 4 that is a marksman from mid-range and very reliable from 3. At his best facing up in the high post.
  • 1 of the best mobile defensive bigs in the NBA. Very effective defending PnR and capable of switching.
  1. SG. Dwyane Wade – Chicago Bulls
  • Declining all-time great: speed, quickness, burst and leaping ability have all left him. Has to rely on purely on his skill and veteran savvy.
  • Poor shooter who’s declining athleticism is making it more and more difficult to cover it up. But he’s still 1 of the most effective non shooting wings in the NBA. Very good post player and scorer in the close (3-10 ft) range.
  • Average defender at this point in his career. No longer has the athletic ability to be effective gambling the way he used to.
  1. SG. DeMar DeRozan – Toronto Raptors
  • Mid-range assassin wing scorer that has a very good in-between game. Very aggressive player that can get to the line, averaged over 8 free throw attempts per game.
  • Limited Range: not a very good 3 point shooter and is far more effective on mid-range shots in the 10-15 foot range than 16ft and beyond.
  • Poor Defender: Despite being 6’7, 220 and relatively athletic he’s been unable to parlay that into being effective on defense.
  1. C. Brook Lopez – Brooklyn Nets
  • Elite and highly skilled offensive big that can score in a multitude of ways.
  • Very good rim protector and interior defender. Utilizes his massive 7’0, 275 pound frame effectively.
  • Limited defensively due to his lack of quickness and athleticism. Can be taken advantage of on the perimeter.
  1. SF. Giannis Antetokumpo – Milwaukee Bucks
  • 6’11 point guard, point forward or whatever you want to call him that just has an unreal skill level at his size. So much untapped potential, he’s just beginning to scratch the surface of what he can do.
  • Unstoppable transition player that is a threat to go coast to coast on any given fast break scenario. Can often be seen grabbing the rebound and taking it all the way and finishing with a thunderous dunk.
  • Already shows impressive vision and ball handling skills for a 6’11 player but will need to continue to improve both if he wants to be a full-time PG. Entire game just needs to continue to grow. Is still somewhat raw overall.
  1. C. Andre Drummond – Detroit Pistons
  • Huge big man with a freakish combination of size, raw power, and athleticism. Force on the glass on both ends of the court.
  • Elite PnR big man. Threat to catch lobs and boom it or catch it as the dive man and finish. Improving low post game, team feels more comfortable giving him post touches.
  • Elite defender, Just too big and strong for most bigs to be able to maneuver against on the block, he’s also mobile enough to defend in PnR.
  1. C. Al Horford – Boston Celtics
  • Elite mid-range shooting big that added 3 point range to his game last season
  • All-around offensive big that can score down low, shoot, put the ball on the floor and pass. He may not be great at everything but there’s nothing he can’t do on offense.
  • Very good defender that is perfect for today’s game. He has the body and strength to hold his own in the paint and the speed and lateral quickness to defend PnR or switch.
  1. PG. John Wall – Washington Wizards
  • Speed, speed, and more speed, blazing fast 6’4 PG that is a blur in the open court and when attacking downhill in the halfcourt.
  • Pure point guard with very good vision and passing ability, capable scorer but lack of jump shot is still holding his game back
  • Elite defensive tools without elite results, capable defender but underachieving should easily be 1 of the top defensive PGs in the NBA.
  1. PG. Kyle Lowry – Toronto Raptors
  • Scrappy overachiever that has gotten the most of his abilities. Plays hard all the time and is a 2 way player and leader on the court.
  • Size and average athleticism limits him to having to be more of an outside jump shooter but he’s really good at it. Shot 39% from 3 on over 7 attempts per game. Has deep range and can really get hot.
  • Tough defender that fights hard through screens and is a playmaker on defense.
