Welcome to Chicago: Desmond Trufant, Cornerback
- Updated: March 19, 2021
A day after letting former All-Pro corner Kyle Fuller go, the Chicago Bears have added former Lion and Falcon Desmond Trufant to fill the hole Fuller leaves. Trufant is not the player Fuller is and his injury history is concerning, having only played in a total of 15 games over the previous two seasons. That said, in those 15 games, Trufant did total 5 picks. That said, the season before that, in Atlanta, he didn’t have any picks despite playing all 16 games. This isn’t a big splash, but assuming it’s not for big money (contract details weren’t available at time of writing), it’s a fine signing. Jaylon Johnson is locked in at one outside spot. Between Trufant, Kindle Vildor, and a healthy Tre Roberson, the Bears should be able to find two quality players to handle the other side and the slot.
