UA-59049186-1 NFL Picks: 2022 Week 1 - Good if it Goes

NFL Picks: 2022 Week 1

Last year: 176-108-1 straight up, 145-137-1 against the spread, 25-35 best bets, 7-12 lock of the week

Lines for this week’s NFL games come from FanDuel, and will continue to do so until a sportsbook gives us money to plug them. Lines marked with an asterisk are consensus lines because the game is not on the board at FanDuel at the time of writing. Bold indicates a best bet. Bold and italic indicates the lock of the week.

This week:

Four best bets this week.

First, CHI +6.5 vs. SF. Trey Lance is the man in San Fran now. And they believe in him so much that they restructured Jimmy G’s deal to keep him and didn’t name Lance a captain. Now he’s got to go two-thirds of the way across the country to play a game at 10 A.M. Pacific against a team he’s only got preseason tape on. I think the 49ers win because they’re a better team, but 6.5 is too much for me to lay here.

IND -7.5 at HOU. I feel like if this was later in the year, the line might be 17.5. Houston’s going to stink out loud. Meanwhile, the Colts have a great run game and upgraded the QB position.

TB -2.5 at DAL. Tom Brady. Tampa’s a flat-out better team. Mike McCarthy’s good for at least one bonehead decision a game that takes points off the board. Bucs cover.

PHI -3.5 at DET. The Eagles are going to win the NFC East. The Lions are the Lions. Every time you start to think that maybe the Lions are actually building something, Dan Campbell does something to remind you he’s certifiably insane. And not in a good way like how Jim Harbaugh’s a crazy person obsessed with steak and football. Dan Campbell’s just nuts. They still don’t have a quarterback. I’m not the biggest believer in Jalen Hurts, but I don’t see them having to come from behind and really air it out here. Philly should be able to play their game and beat the kneecap biters by at least four. Lock it in.
