NFL Picks: 2022 Week 5

Last week: 5-10-1 ATS, 9-7 ML, 2-1-1 best bets, 1-0 lock of the week
Season: 23-40-1
ATS, 30-33-1 ML, 7-8-1 best bets, 2-2 lock of the week

Lines for this week’s NFL games come from FanDuel, and will continue to do so until a sportsbook gives us money to plug them. Lines marked with an asterisk are consensus lines because the game is not on the board at FanDuel at the time of writing. Bold indicates a best bet. Bold and italic indicates the lock of the week.

This week:

The Eagles are my lock of the week because they are rolling and I do not trust the Cardinals at all. They are poorly-coached and are lucky to have the wins they have. PHI -5.5.

The Falcons were expected to be one of the worst teams in the league, but right now, they’re 4-0 against the spread and are playing some quality football. Tampa Bay finally found their offense Sunday night against the Chiefs, but couldn’t stop them to save their lives. 10 points is too many. ATL +10.

Jaylon Johnson is likely out Sunday, a big blow to the Bears’ pass defense against the best wide receiver in the NFL, Justin Jefferson. Their run defense was already suspect and the offense is sputtering. The Bears have yet to allow a touchdown in the second half, but I don’t think the Vikings will need to find the end zone in the second half to cover this one, sizable as it is. MIN -7.5.

Someone please tell me what the Saints have done to be 5.5-point favorites against anybody. Geno Smith is actually playing good football; the Seahawks can score. I like Seattle to win this one. FanDuel’s gonna give an extra 5.5. SEA +5.5.

One last note: if the LV/KC line crosses 7, that would be a best bet-worthy play.
