Thoughts from a Die-Hard Packers Fan

This has been one of the most frustrating years of being a Packers fan I can ever remember. I know that sounds really weird and some people probably think I sound like a whiny bitch considering my team is 10-5 and heading to the playoffs but holy shit this team has been hard to watch the last 9 weeks. They started off the year 6-0 and playing as good as anybody in league and then a tougher part of the schedule came. Back-to-back road losses at Denver and Carolina, where they were completely outplayed in both games. I considered those “acceptable losses” because those 2 teams were considered among the best in the league. With a 6-2 record now and upcoming games against all 3 divisional opponents (DET,MIN,CHI) I was confident they would take 2 out of 3 at worst. They lost at home to Detroit in one of the most pathetic games I’ve ever witnessed in my life, win on the road at Minnesota and then lose at home on Thanksgiving night against the god-awful Bears. That’s when I knew this team had real problems, and yes, like I’ve been saying for years, it starts with the coaching staff. Mike McCarthy is one of the most overrated coaches in sports. It took him 12 weeks to realize that Tom Clements, who took over the play calling to start the year, is a clueless hack who has no clue what hes doing. That’s unacceptable. Aaron Rodgers, who many consider the best QB in the league, has been anything but this year. He is having his worst statistical year since he took over as the starting QB in 2007-08. Losing Jordy Nelson was an underrated killer to this team since Randall Cobb has proven he is a great #2 WR not a #1. Davante Adams, who had a solid rookie year last year, has regressed to say the least. The Packers are getting pretty much no production from the TE position and the OL has been hurt/inconsistent all season. Last week, getting fucking steamrolled at Arizona has to make you wonder if this team has completely tuned out McCarthy. I guess we will find out. The NFC North division title is on the line this week as Minnesota comes to town; a win and Green Bay is the #3 seed and will either host Seattle or Minnesota wild card weekend. A loss means getting the #5 seed and a road game at Washington. I have no idea how this season is going to play out, but I have pretty much no confidence heading into January and that’s a weird feeling as a Packers fan. No matter what though, it’s still GO PACK GO!
