Blackhawks 5, Islanders 4
- Updated: December 15, 2016

The first period saw a lot of scoring – six goals, then the game settled down quite a bit. Andrew Ladd opened the scoring early for the Islanders. Casey Cizikas made it 2-0 about a minute-and-a-half after Ladd’s goal. The Blackhawks would get the next three. First, Artemi Panarin scored on a one-timer set up by a perfect Brent Seabrook pass. Next, Artem Anisimoc scored on a tap-in after a game of tic-tac-toeby him, Panarin, and Patrick Kane. Just over a minute after Anisimov’s goal, Marian Hossa scored on a play set up by Jonathan Toews. The lead would last only a little over a minute, as Ryan Strome found the back of the net for New York. Anders Lee scored 22 seconds into the second. Panarin scored with 19 seconds to play in the period. In between, New York out-shot Chicago 13-6. The third saw a lot of back-and-forth play before Richard Panik scored a little under fourteen minutes in to give the Hawks the lead. The Islanders would get some good looks, but would be unable to come up with the tying goal.
A few things
- Tyler Motte was a healthy scratch because reasons. I thought he had been playing pretty well, even if it didn’t show up on the score sheet and at least, he’s an asset on the penalty kill. He’s looked the most ready of of any of the Blackhawks’ young talents; I don’t know why he’s not being put in positions to succeed.
- Scott Darling played about as well as one can while giving up four goals. None of the four were really his fault.
My picks for 3 stars
★★★ Andrew Ladd, LW, NYI (1 G)
★★ Brent Seabrook, D, CHI (2 A)
★ Artemi Panarin, LW, CHI (2 G, 1 A)
