UA-59049186-1 Blackhawks 6, Avalanche 4 - Good if it Goes

Blackhawks 6, Avalanche 4

Box score (Yahoo)

After a couple rough games, the Blackhawks needed a win in this one against the league-worst Avalanche. What transpired was a weird back-and-forth affair with none of the six Hawks goals coming from the top 6 forwards. Nick Schmaltz opened the scoring a little over two-and-a-half minute into the game. A little over five minutes later, Matt Duchene redirected a Nathan MacKinnon shot on a power play to tie the game. Brent Seabrook blasted one in a little under thirteen minutes into the period to give the Hawks the lead again. The second was a rough period for the Hawks; they were out-shot 8-4 and out-scored 3-1. The Hawks made up for it in the third, though. They out-shot the Avalanche 12-5 and out-scored them 3-0. Vinnie Hinostroza had a pair of goals just over 3 minutes apart and Tanner Kero put one in the empty net with 11 seconds to play.

A few things

  • I’d like to see Tyler Motte come up from Rockford and play with Kero and Hinostroza. Kero’s played well on both ends since coming up. Hinostroza’s got some wheels on him and can create offense.
  • Corey Crawford had another rough game. Since coming back from his appendectomy, he’s held the opposition under 3 goals in only 3 out of 10 games. Once again, more Scott Darling, please.

My picks for 3 stars

★★★ Matt Duchene, C, COL (2 G)

★★ Vinnie Hinostroza, F, CHI (2 G (GWG))

★ Tanner Kero, C, CHI (2 G, 1 A)
