Blackhawks 1, Bruins 0
- Updated: January 20, 2017
The Blackhawks were outplayed all game, but Scott Darling stood on his head and got them the win. It was another slow start – the team was out-shot 17-6 in the first, but unlike some past games where the Hawks started slow, this performance carried over to the second and then the third periods. The Hawks finally got the game’s first goal with 1:26 to play in the third. Michal Kempny got a play started, Vinnie Hinostroza made a great play to get the puck into the zone, dished to Tanner Kero, who passed the puck between a defender’s legs to Marian Hossa, who put it in the net. Luckily for the Hawks, that one was all it took.
A few things
- I told you we needed more Darling. On the post-game show, Steve Konroyd suggested that Darls may get the start Sunday. I think he should. Corey Crawford‘s been off since coming back from his appendectomy, meanwhile Darling has only let in one of the last 70 shots he’s faced.
- The top line of Ryan Hartman, Jonathan Toews, and Richard Panik didn’t show up on the scoresheet, but they need have a very nice game and created some chances.
My picks for 3 stars
★★★ Marian Hossa, RW, CHI (1 G (GWG))
★★ Vinnie Hinostroza, F, CHI (1 A)
★ Scott Darling, G, CHI (30 SV, SO)
