Blackhawks Trade Kris Versteeg, Re-Sign Marcus Kruger
- Updated: September 12, 2015
Friday, the Hawks traded forwards Kris Versteeg and Joakim Nordstrom and a 3rd-round draft pick to Carolina for defensemen Dennis Robertson and Jake Massie, and a 5th-round draft pick. This was a pure salary dump. In Robertson’s first full season as a pro last year, he had 17 points (3 G, 14 A) in 57 games with the Charlotte Checkers of the AHL. Massie was a 6th-round draft pick this year. He is a UMass commit.
Versteeg’s best games came as part of the “PB&K” line, but now B’s in Detroit and P’s future with the team is up in the air. I liked Nordstrom, but there wasn’t anything he did that Kruger didn’t do better.
The Hawks used the space created by this deal to re-sign Marcus Kruger to a 1 year, $1.5 million deal.
