Kings 3, Blackhawks 2 (OT)
- Updated: April 8, 2017
A Jonathan Toews goal just under six-and-a-half minutes in was the only one scored in the game until the third period when Tyler Toffoli tied the game on a power play just under five minutes in. Artemi Panarin got the lead back for the Hawks, but the Kings would tie the game with 55 seconds to play and Jonathan Quick off the ice for the extra attacker. The 2-2 score would hold for the least 55 seconds and we would go to OT. The extra period was short, though, as Drew Doughty scored 27 seconds in to win the game for L.A. And now the Hawks are on to the playoffs.
A few things
- Yeah, the Hawks haven’t won in their last four, but they really haven’t been playing for anything and they’ve shown they can turn it on when they need to. This last week, they’ve had one goal: get through it without anyone getting hurt. (For anyone wondering why the starters were playing in this one, the Bulls play Wednesday night in Chicago, so the Hawks won’t start until at least Thursday and you don’t want guys going nine days without playing.
My picks for 3 stars
★★★ Duncan Keith, D, CHI (2 A)
★★ Anze Kopitar, C, LA (3 A)
★ Jeff Carter, C, LA (3 A)
