Senators 4, Blackhawks 3

The Blackhawks got off to a rough start and it was Ottawa who found the back of the net first as a result. It was Bobby Ryan with the goal four-and-a-half minutes in. The Blackhawks got going and were able to tie the game on a power play goal by Artemi Panarin set up by a great pass by Brent Seabrook 11:17 in. In the second, the Hawks again got outworked and this time, they outscored as well. First, Derick Brassard just after a power play ended to give Ottawa a 2-1 lead. The goal came just over seven-and-a-half minutes into the period. Ten seconds after Brassard’s goal, Tom Pyatt scored to make it 3-1. Tyler Motte got one back for the Hawks twelve minutes in, but Dion Phaneuf put the lead back to 2 2:22 later. In the third, Richard Panik scored early to cut the lead to one and the Hawks out-shot the Senators nearly 3-to-1, but they were unable to come all the way back.

A few things

Scott Darling had a bit of a rough outing, though he’s played a lot of hockey in a short amount of time as of late and the team in front of him didn’t do him a lot of favors. Corey Crawford was activated from IR; I think he’ll be in net Friday. Darling played well enough to merit giving him more starts than usual the rest of the way, though.
Marian Hossa left the game with an upper-body injury and is day-to-day. Artem Anisimov is still out with the same thing.
