Sharks 2, Blackhawks 1
- Updated: November 24, 2016

The Blackhawks got out to a slow start and ended up falling behind 2 in the first period. First, they surrendered a 4-on-3 power play goal and then just over three minutes after that, they surrendered a short-handed goal. From the second period on, it was a different story, though. The Blackhawks got the better of the action and the special teams and Corey Crawford really stepped up. So too, though, did Martin Jones. The Hawks got several great looks and Jones made several great saves. The Hawks cut the deficit to one a little over 12 minutes into the second on a goal by Artemi Panarin off a great set-up by Artem Anisimov. The Sharks would take that 2-1 lead into the third, where again, the Hawks got the better of the action. However, they were unable to get anything past Jones.
A few things
- Jonathan Toews left the game with a lower-body injury. We’ll have to wait for further details. [Edit: It’s an upper-body injury. Q said he hopes it’s not serious.]
- Q put Patrick Kane back with Panarin and Anisimov. Vinnie Hinostroza started on the top line with Toews and Marian Hossa. Hinostroza’s played well lately, but I think I’d rather have Motte there.
- Yeah, this was another loss on the road trip, but the Hawks lead the Western Conference by 3 points on American Thanksgiving. Hot streaks and cold streaks happen.
My picks for 3 stars
★★★ Logan Couture, C, SJ (1 G)
★★ Niklas Hjalmarsson, D, CHI (1 A)
★ Joe Pavelski, C, SJ (1 A)
