WWE Clash of Champions: Gold Rush 2020 Results

Hello, once again to the Thunderdome at the Amway Center in Orlando, Florida for tonight’s PPV, “Clash of Champions: Gold Rush”! Tonight, every championship is on the line, with the exception of one championship, as the competitors are not medically cleared to compete. There will be a cousin vs cousin match, an ambulance match, and a ladder match. So, without much further ado, let’s get going!

  1. Lucha House Party (Kalisto and Lince Dorado (w/ Gran Metalik) vs. Cesaro and Shinsuke Nakamura:  WWE Smackdown Tag Team Championships. Winners and STILL Smackdown Tag Team Champions: Cesaro and Shinsuke Nakamura!
  2. AJ Styles vs. Sami Zayn vs. Jeff Hardy: Triple Threat Ladder Match for the WWE Intercontinental Championship. Winner and NEW (STILL) Intercontinental Champion: Sami Zayn!
  3. Zelina Vega vs. Asuka: WWE Raw Women’s Championship. Winner and STILL Raw Women’s Champion: Asuka!
  4.  Bobby Lashley (w/ MVP and Shelton Benjamin) vs. Apollo Crews (w/ Ricochet): WWE United States Championship. Winner and STILL United States Champion: Bobby Lashley!
  5. Drew Gulak vs. R-Truth: WWE 24/7Championship. Winner and NEW 24/7 Champion: Drew Gulak!
  6. Andrade and Angel Garza vs The Street Profits (Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford): WWE Raw Tag Team Championships. Winners and STILL Raw Tag Team Champions: The Street Profits!
  7. Bayley vs. Asuka: WWE Smackdown Women’s Championship. Winner via Disqualification: Asuka! (STILL Smackdown Women’s Champion: Bayley!)
  8. R-Truth vs. Drew Gulak: WWE 24/7 Championship. Winner and NEW 24/7 Champion: R-Truth!
  9. Randy Orton vs. Drew McIntyre: Ambulance Match for the WWE Championship. Winner and STILL WWE Champion: Drew McIntyre!
  10. Jey Uso vs. Roman Reigns (w/ Paul Heyman): WWE Universal Championship. Winner via TKO and STILL Universal Champion: Roman Reigns!

Ok, first things first. Originally, Nikki Cross was supposed to face Bayley for the Smackdown Women’s Championship but was pulled because she was not medically cleared to do so. So, that brought out Asuka to battle Bayley, and also Sasha Banks to get her revenge on Bayley.

Same for why the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship bout between The Riott Squad (Ruby Riott and Liv Morgan) and Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler, as Jax and Baszler was also not medically cleared. Hopefully, everyone will be ok soon.

Now, as for the rest of the night, it wasn’t very good overall. The Ambulance Match was amazing. And seeing most of the legends that Orton had hurt,( Big Show, Christian, Shawn Michaels, and Ric Flair) come back to get their revenge, was sweet! The Cousin vs Cousin Match for the Universal Championship (Jey vs. Roman), while it started out good, it didn’t end very good, in my opinion. Having Jimmy come out and throw in the towel and kowtow to Roman was just wrong. I get it, but still.

The Triple Threat Match had its good spots. Jeff Hardy was being Jeff Hardy and being the daredevil that he is. What really took that match was when Sami Zayn not only handcuffed Jeff to a ladder by his ear but also handcuffed himself to AJ Styles and then Styles to the ladder support, so that neither one (Jeff or Styles) could climb the ladder to win. Very ingenious!  You might have noticed why I put “(and STILL)” in the results. Well, that’s because Sami Zayn, still thought he was the champion going into the match, as he never really lost it, to begin with.

As far as the rest of the night went, it was kind of boring. Lackluster, if you will. I don’t know what I was expecting, other than more excitement. Or, maybe an appearance from Retribution. Something. But, they have a draft coming up on October 9th and 12th to shake things up again and to get ready to send everyone to Hell, as the next Pay-Per-View will be “Hell in a Cell” on October, 25th. See you all then!
