WWE Hell In A Cell 2016 Results

The Kick-Off match saw a 6-man tag match with the cruiserweights: Cedric Alexander, Sin Cara and Lince Dorado defeating the team of Tony Nese, Drew Gulak and Daivari in an awesome cruiserweight match. It’s been a long time since the cruiserweight division has seen any light, and its good to see the WWE bring them back.

The first match of the night was Roman Reigns defending the United States Championship against Rusev in the first of 3 Hell in a Cell matches. The usual brutal Hell In A Cell match, with a chain being used, as well as stairs. Reigns powered out of the Accolade into a Samoan Drop to Rusev, followed by a spear to retain the championship.

Second on the card was a Women’s match between Dana Brooke going against Bayley. The ever popular Bayley got the victory in a hard-fought battle with the Belly to Bayley.

Third up is a tag team match between the Certified G’s: Enzo and Cass, vs “Andy” Anderson and “Big Gall”Gallows.

Enzo and Cass fires up the crowd like their usual stuff and, referencing Big Papi. Match shows a lot of dominance from Enzo and Cass, especially from Big Cass… However, no matter how hard they fought, Anderson and Gallows defeated The Certified G’s with the Magic Killer.

Up fourth is the second Hell In A Cell match as it pits Seth Rollins going against the WWE Universal Champion Kevin Owens.

Another brutal match inside the cell… I do believe this is the first time both men have competed inside The Cell, but I could be wrong. Owens is working on Seth’s back, as Seth is still reeling from the powerbomb on the apron last Monday night. Using The Cell as a weapon is normal in this kind of match, as its always used in every match. Owens is ready to deal some damage to Rollins as he set up a couple of tables on the outside of the ring, including one propped up against the cell. Owens uses a fire extinguisher inadvertently on a ref, and Chris Jericho puts himself inside the cell. So, now its a 2 on 1 handicap match, as there is no disqualifications in a cell match. Rollins powerbombs Kevin Owens through the two tables that Owens had set up! Jericho gets involved again, as he pulls the ref while the count was going on. In the end, with help from Chris Jericho and some chairs, Kevin Owens finishes off Rollins with a powerbomb through the chairs to retain the championship. After the match, Jericho plants Rollins with a Codebreaker for good measure.

Brian Kendrick vs TJ Perkins for the Cruiserweight Championship is next.

Do or die time for Kendrick as he thinks he doesn’t have much left in his body, as he is getting older. Action starts and a good technical match between the two, it’s a matter of time before emotions could get the better of Kendrick. Kendrick knocks Perkins out of the ring and then ties him up to the bottom rope with the tape, and Kendrick is taking advantage of it. Lots of good action, going back and forth. Submission maneuvers back and forth. Kendrick goes for Sliced Bread No. 2, misses and might have tweaked his knee. But, it was a ploy and suckered Perkins with a headbutt, gets the Catfish Hook sunk in, and makes Perkins tap. Brian Kendrick is the NEW Cruiserweight Champion.

Next up, is the WWE Tag Team Championship match between The New Day and Cesaro and Sheamus.
New Day panders to the crowd as they usually do. Action starts and goes back and forth. I wonder if Sheamus and Cesaro will implode, but time will tell. Cesaro is being Cesaro including doing the Swing. Sheamus hits Cesaro with the Brogue Kick! Woods tries to capitalize, but Sheamus breaks it up and breaks up The New Day’s rhythm. Sheamus launches himself outside and gets into it with Kofi, while Woods is in the Sharpshooter by Cesaro. Woods taps, but because of Kofi, Cesaro and Sheamus win on a disqualification.. but New Day retains the belts.

The final match of the night is one of history:

The last Hell In A Cell match is Sasha Banks defending her championship against Charlotte. Charlotte comes down to the ring via a throne, while Sasha comes out to an SUV, ala Eddie Guerrero. This match is a first, and makes one wonder how it will deter the careers of these women. As the cell gets lowered, Charlotte gets a jump on Sasha and they have to stop the cell, and the action goes to the crowd. The Spanish table is in shambles already and the bell hasn’t even rung yet. Sasha’s back is giving her fits from the damage that Charlotte did to her. Sasha cannot stand as a doctor goes to check on her, and Charlotte is gloating.. wanting the bell to ring and demanding that the belt go to her. Just as the official is about to declare Charlotte the winner via forfeit, Sasha gets off the stretcher and goes after Charlotte. These women are tough, that is for sure. Sasha had the Bank Statement locked in but, Charlotte, gets out and dumps Sasha to the floor. Shades of her father Ric Flair as Charlotte goes after Sasha with chop after chop. A chair comes to play as Sasha does a drop toe hold to Charlotte and she lands on the chair, then Charlotte just drops Sasha on her back on the chair. Action spills out of the ring, and Sasha does her best Spider-Woman and hits double knees to Charlotte. This match is every bit of an awesome main event.

Back inside the ring, and Sasha channels Eddie, as she hit the Three Amigas, followed by the Frog Splash to Charlotte. This is a brutal match. Both women are brutalizing and punishing one another, as Charlotte drives Sasha’s head into the corner of the steps. Charlotte tries for a superplex onto a table on the outside, but Sasha blocks and knocks her into it. Sasha tries to bring another table to the ring but, gets driven to the cell by Charlotte. Sasha goes for a powerbomb, but her back gives out, giving Charlotte the advantage to win her third Raw Women’s Championship.
That match was awesome! The whole night was awesome. I can’t wait til Survivor Series to get here and that will be on November 20th. Til then… I’ll talk you later.
