Contenders to Scapegoats: Colts make the wrong move again.
- Updated: November 4, 2015
Indianapolis scapegoats.
Offensive coordinator Pep Hamilton was fired yesterday after the colts failed to beat Carolina on Monday night in overtime. The colts struggled the first 3 qts but found their rhythm in the 4th to tie the game and an costly interception proved to end their fate in the final period.
Why would you fire the person most familiar with your franchise QB?
GM Ryan Grigson is fired at the end of the season and he’s bringing as many people down with him as possible. As he should.
Colts came into the season with super bowl intentions but they did nothing nothing in the offseason to protect their prized possession: Andrew Luck. On paper, Jim Irsay would have told you this team was super bowl bound. They added Frank Gore, Andre Johnson, and Trent Cole to a team that played in the AFC title game. After that 45-7 bashing, that same Ryan Grigson reported the Pats for deflating footballs.
All Pep did was watch his star QB lead the league in INTs, play with bad ribs, win 2 games with the oldest qb in the league, and watch his make shift offensive line continue to get beaten routinely.
Pep didn’t decide to trade a 1st rounder for Trent Richardson, or sign Todd Herrmans. The offensive coordinator Pagano wanted all along, he promoted to coordinator, and Grigson had to fire the guy he took all credit for hiring but was silent when the firing was announced.
The pattern is clear here.
Change has to start from the higher up from within and the correct change.
Grigson has to go.
