Michigan 28, UNLV 7 – Rapid Reaction
- Updated: September 19, 2015
A win is a win, and after the last couple years, I probably shouldn’t be complaining about wins, but that one should have been better than it was. Ty Isaac had a great game. De’Veon Smith was okay. The offensive line did not dominate like I hoped they would, considering that UNLV starts multiple guys under 250 pounds on their defensive line. The passing game was not particularly good. Rudock had another bad interception. This is starting to become troubling. I’m hoping that Michigan being less than spectacular on offense today was a result of taking their foot off the gas against a bad UNLV team. Even if that is the case, that’s slightly troubling, as Michigan did that far too often during the Hoke era. The plus side is that this time, the game never really got close.
The defense was great again, shutting UNLV out until they got caught on a blitz and Boyd had a long catch and run that set up UNLV’s lone TD. The coverage on that series was not great. Though 2 of Michigan’s first three opponents were not very good teams, the defense is only giving up 10.3 points per game. That is great. The defense will need to turn in another good performance against BYU next week and the offense will have to step up.
