UA-59049186-1 NFL Week 1 Quick Takes - Good if it Goes

NFL Week 1 Quick Takes

  • GB 27 @ JAX 23

    • The Jaguars are going to be very competitive this year BUT they might not be ready to take a huge step into playoff territory. In other news, that Aaron Rodgers fella is pretty good huh?

  • BAL 13 @ BUF 7

    • It was a defensive struggle in Buffalo and surprisingly the Bills were very bad on offense. I expected more from Tyrod Taylor. The Ravens could potentially be back.

  • Chi 14 @ Hou 23

    • We already knew what Deandre Hopkins could do but my God. If Will Fuller turns out to be a star, this Texans team might be more than just a one and done playoffs team. Of course the Bears are still the Bears.

  • Cle 10 @ Phi 29

    • Carson Wentz was fantastic in his first rookie start but do not throw a parade just yet. They beat the Browns who, the expansion team I thought they were.

  • TB 31 @ ATL 24

    • Jameis Winston has arrived. He was impressive in their first game but the Falcons defense was not the greatest so we will have to wait and see if he can sustain that level of play.

  • Min 25 @ Ten 16

    • The Vikings struggled as expected with QB Shaun Hill but it didn’t matter because their defense is very good. The Vikings’ special teams and defense pretty much won this game on their own. The Titans clearly still have a long way to go.

  • Cin 23 @ NYJ 22

    • The Bengals should not have won the game but hey. The biggest story from was Darelle Revis clearly is not the player he once was.

  • Oak 35 @ NO 34

    • This shootout at the Superdome ended in dramatic fashion as the Raiders went for two and won the game by one point after conversion. Their offense is good but is their defense good enough to really make the playoffs?

  • SD 27 @ KC 33 (OT)

    • This was the most shocking game of the week. San Diego got off to a very fast start appearing as if they would close out the Chiefs early. Of all QBs, Alex Smith led a major comeback, ultimately accumulating 363 all-purpose yards. If only the Chiefs offense had done this vs a real defense, I might be looking at them as a Super Bowl contender.

  • Mia 10 @ Sea 12

    • This was supposed to be an easy pick. Seattle needed a game winning touchdown drive in the fourth quarter to pull it out. It was not the most impressive performance but man is Russell Wilson big time with the game on the line.

  • Det 39 @ Ind 35

    • The ending of this game was surprising. It was a typical game the Lions normally lose. They had just given up a go ahead TD to Andrew Luck and the Colts late in the fourth. Matthew Stafford’s poise and leadership led the team down the field for a game winning field goal. The Lions defense is not very good but this offense might be better than we all expected.

  • NYG 20 @ Dal 19

    • Dallas was too quick to crown the duo of Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliott as they appeared relatively pedestrian in their first game. The Dallas offensive line was dominated by the revamped Giants front seven. After clinching a close win, the Giants look better but the Cowboys still SHOULD HAVE WON THAT GAME!

  • NE 23 @ ARI 21

    • Is Jimmy Garopollo the real deal or is the Cardinals defense just not as good this year? Time will tell but the Patriots beat a presumed Super Bowl contender without Rob Gronkowski, two starting tackles and of course, Tom Brady. The Pats appear well on their way to another deep playoff run.

  • Pit 38 @ WSH 16

    • The Steelers appeared to be exactly who we thought they were and that was WITHOUT  Le’Veon Bell, Markus Wheaton, Martavis Bryant and Ladarius Green. How good are they gonna be when those guys get back? The Redskins were disappointing across the board, especially defensively.

  • LA 0 @ SF 28

    • Was anyone else equally shocked at how well the 49ers played and how poorly the Rams played? Same. The Rams easily have the worst offense in the NFL.
