Top 100 NBA Players of 2016: 90-81

  1. PG. Daren Collison – Sacramento Kings
  • Lightning-fast undersized combo guard that was quietly one of the most efficient scorers in the game last year. (50% from 2, 40% from 3, and 85% from the FT line)
  • Scores on and off the ball. On the ball, he likes to play with ball screens and use his speed to attack and get to the rim, but makes defenders pay for going under and off the ball he is a very reliable spot-up shooter and threat to penetrate off the catch.
  • Not a very good defensive player and it didn’t help matters that he had to see extended minutes at the 2 last year.
  1. SG. Danny Green – San Antonio Spurs
  • 3 and D specialist in danger of losing the “3” label if he doesn’t start shooting better
  • Spot up 3 point shooter who shockingly struggled (by his standards) from 3 last year.
  • Elite perimeter defender that can guard 3 positions.
  1. PG. Brandon Knight – Phoneix Suns
  • Quick shoot first combo guard that loves to launch 3s
  • Streaky shooter that isn’t nearly skilled enough at shooting to be hoisting nearly 7 3s a game. Has some passing ability, but vision is only average and so is his desire to be a true distributor.
  • Poor perimeter defender that could be a lot better on that end.
  1. PF. Tobias Harris – Detroit Pistons
  • Ball stopping combo forward that can put the ball in the hole. Not a very athletic player.
  • Scores on and off the ball, but at his best offensively in triple treat position in the high post. Effective at getting to the rim, but doesn’t draw a lot of fouls.
  • Prototypical tweener defensively that has the skills offensively to play both forward spots but can’t guard either of them.
  1. SF. Harrison Barnes – Dallas Mavericks
  • 2 way SF that has made a living so far scoring off the ball but could have the potential for a larger role.
  • Offensively he has thrived as a spot up 3 point shooter and slasher that occasionally gets a post-up here or there.
  • Versatile defender that is at his best defending on the wing but has been utilized defending 4s in small ball lineups.
  1. SG. J.J. Reddick – Los Angles Clippers
  • Shooting extraordinaire that has limitless energy to run around screens and get open to launch it. Doesn’t need to be open, just needs enough space to get the shot off.
  • High IQ player on both ends, competes on defense but just doesn’t have the necessary tools to be a major factor on that end of the floor.
  • Mediocre athlete and undersized one-position player that has carved out a niche as an elite specialist.
  1. PF. Jabari Parker – Milwaukee Bucks
  • Scoring combo forward that thrives off the ball as a cutter or dive man and is an elite finisher.
  • Potential to be an elite scorer. Has all the tools to be an all-around scorer that can score in all areas of the floor but he must improve his jump shot to fully unlock his on ball scoring ability.
  • Horrible defender that just simply looks lost out there on most nights at that end.
  1. C. Greg Monroe – Milwaukee Bucks
  • Lefty throwback big that’s most prominent offensively in the post, decent mid-range ability.
  • Very good below the rim rebounder that uses his big body effectively to box out and get good position.
  • Poor defender that just isn’t equipped to have much success on that end in today’s game.
  1. SG. Avery Bradley – Boston Celtics
  • 3 and D undersized shooting guard who is underrated offensively
  • Off-ball scorer that utilizes screens effectively to get free and get his offense.
  • Pesky on-ball defender that is good at keeping the ball in front of him.
  1. SG. Victor Oladipo – Oklahoma City Thunder
  • Young 2-way SG that scores and functions well as a secondary playmaker.
  • Offensively, he can score on the ball and made huge strides as an off-ball scorer. He’s always been effective slashing, but really improved as a spot up shooter.
  • Defensive reputation is a little overblown at this point in his career, but he is one of the better young perimeter defenders in the game.
