Bears Trade Adam Shaheen To Dolphins
- Updated: July 29, 2020
Barring a major turnaround, the 2017 Draft will unfortunately always be known in Chicago as the time when Ryan Pace took Mitchell Trubisky over Patrick Mahomes or Deshaun Watson. That wasn’t the only big whiff for Pace in that draft though; Adam Shaheen was selected in the second round. (Spare me the Kittle nonsense. He was JAG at Iowa, partially thanks to Iowa.) Shaheen’s college tape looked impressive, but he was never able to make the transition from D-II ball to the NFL. Your author expected him to be cut altogether before the season starts, but the Dolphins elected to give Pace an actual draft pick for him, so hooray for that. It’s a 7th-round pick in 2021 that could turn into a 6th, but getting anything for him at this point feels like a major victory.
Programming note: Over the next few days, I’ll be going over the Bears’ off-season moves and draft picks as the team prepares for camp. Camp is closed to the public this year, so obviously I won’t have any firsthand reports for you this year. Still, I’ll go over what we want and don’t want to hear coming out of camp. Look for that probably Friday.
