What’s Going On Applies Tag

Robinson tagged, not happy. The Bears applied the franchise tag to WR Allen Robinson, who, since then, has been liking tweets about how bad/unfair the franchise tag is. Robinson will be just 28 when the 2021 season starts and is coming off of back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons, despite the best passer he’s had in that time being Nick Foles. Your author would not be surprised to see him traded, particularly if the Bears’ pursuit of a top QB materializes.

Let’s check in on Kickerpalooza. It’s over! It’s finally over!

Let’s check in on QB-palooza. Shoot. Another one of these, huh? After being connected to just about everybody at one point or another, the dust is starting to settle. Carson Wentz, who looked like the most likely option, to the point that your author had a welcome post written, has been traded to Indy. Derek Carr is not going anywhere. The big fish out there are Deshaun Watson and Russell Wilson. Watson has been adamant that he won’t play for the Texans again. The Texans have bungled the situation in every way imaginable. After being adamant themselves that they weren’t trading Watson, they now seem resigned to the fact that they’re gonna have to, but still decided to hang David Culley out to dry anyway. Wilson named four destinations he’d accept a trade to: New Orleans, Las Vegas, Dallas, and Chicago. Dallas just signed Dak Prescott to a long-term big money deal, New Orleans is roughly a gorillion dollars over the cap, and Vegas is riding with Derek Carr. Seattle, for their part, hasn’t come out like Houston and said that they’re not trading Wilson and didn’t include any mention of Wilson in their letter to season ticket holders. Watson just wants out one way or another and one (at least a rational one) would have to believe there’s going to be at least one offer out there better than anything the Bears could put together, so this space is officially not entertaining that idea. Wilson, however, seems worth keeping an eye on. If that doesn’t happen, your author would bet a nickel that it’s Alex Smith and a rookie next year. Fitzmagic and Mariota are the other two options worth watching.

Here it is, your moment of zen.
