NFL Draft Night 2 Live Blog
- Updated: April 30, 2016

Before we get started on round 2, I want to recap round 1 a bit and talk about this year’s Draft Town. The city of Chicago has done a great job with the draft again, although the experience was better a year ago. This year, it was more spread out, which, given the crowds last year, was probably a good idea, but they didn’t really do anything with the extra space.
There was room just outside of Selection Square to stand and watch the draft. Scott Hanson hosted with Brian Billick and Curtis Conway. Goodell got booed to Bolivia when he came out to open the draft. Like, it was totally open air outside Selection Square and it still got awfully loud.
Bosa to San Diego was surprising. Ramsey seemed like an ideal fit there.
This will get it’s own post after the draft, but wow on the Tunsil thing. Once the Titans took Conklin after trading up and the Bears took Floyd after doing likewise, people started wondering how far he’d fall. It ended up being just a few more picks, though.
Floyd’s got a really high ceiling. He’ll need to put on some weight, but I like the Aldon Smith comparison. Vic Fangio’s a great coach and I’m pretty confident that he’ll get Floyd to that ceiling.
Kenny Clark should be a solid player for the Packers, but there were quite a few interior linemen available that I liked better.
What in the world are the 49ers doing? Trading back into the first round to take Garnett is stupid even for them.
Now, on to round 2.
Jaylon Smith went 34th overall to Dallas. Myles Jack went two spots later to Jacksonville. I’d rather have Jack. I thought he was the better player in the first place and Dr. James Andrews has said he doesn’t need microfracture surgery.
The Bills got a steal at #41 after trading with the Bears. I like Ragland a lot.
The Packers traded up to #47 to take Jason Spriggs. The Bears would have picked next and may have taken Spriggs. The word is that the Bears liked Spriggs, but if they valued him that highly, why not stay at #41? And if you wanted a LT, why not take Tunsil in the first round?
Christian Hackenberg went #51 overall to the Jets. When he wasn’t being coached by an idiot and playing behind a Swiss cheese O-line, he showed a lot of potential.
The Bears got Cody Whitehair at #56 after trading back twice. Excellent job by Ryan Pace.
The Buccaneers traded back into the second round to draft a kicker, so 49ers, you’re off the hook for dumbest trade in the draft.
San Diego got a nice player in Max Tuerk at #66.
The Jaguars took Yannick Ngakoue at #69. I think he could be a sleeper in this class. He looked very good at Maryland this past season.
KeiVarae Russell could be a sleeper at CB. Nice pick by the Chiefs at #74.
Kevin Faulk wore a Tom Brady jersey under his suit to announce the Patriots pick. Love it. Free Brady.
Graham Glasgow went 95th overall to Detroit. Another potential sleeper. Had a very good year at Michigan and can lay any interior spot.
Connor Cook didn’t hear his name called, but Jacoby Brissett (#91 – NE) and Cody Kessler (#93 – CLE) did.
That’s all for night 2! Thanks for following along!
