UA-59049186-1 NFL Week 3 Power Rankings - Good if it Goes

NFL Week 3 Power Rankings

  1. Steelers (2-0)
    • With all the injuries going on in New England, when you look at how high of a level Big Ben is playing at right now and the massive improvement on defense the Steelers have shown in the opening weeks, I don’t see how anyone can make an argument for another team right now in the number 1 spot.
  2. Broncos (2-0)
    • There’s still a lot of football left to be played, but man have the Broncos played better than I thought they would so far. Most notably their QB, Trevor Siemian.
  3. Patriots (2-0)
    • Once Brady and Gronk get back, the Patriots are going to do some serious damage. But for now with 1 QB suspended and another with a hurt shoulder, they have to drop in the rankings a little.
  4. Cardinals (1-1)
    • So much for the Cardinals being overrated huh? They blasted the Bucs in week 2 and if Catanzaro makes a 40-yard field goal they’re a 2-0 football team.
  5. Panthers (1-1)
    • I know it was just the 49ers, but man does the Panthers’ passing attack look much more deadly with Benjamin back in the lineup.
  6. Vikings (2-0)
    • I thought long and hard about putting the Vikings a lot higher, but then the news broke about Adrian Peterson having a torn meniscus and having to miss significant time and that has to be taken into concern when looking at this team in the short term.
  7. Packers (1-1)
    • The Jags may not be as good as we thought they were and the GB offense wasn’t able to do very much against the Vikings. Could Rodgers and company be in danger of not winning their division 2 years in a row?
  8. Bengals (1-1)
    • The Bengals beat what is a pretty decent Jets team and hung in there with the team I have rated number 1 in the Steelers. Then there’s the fact that Eifert and Burfict have yet to step on the field. I think the Bengals will be fine moving forward, especially once they get back all their horses.
  9. Seahawks (1-1)
    • I won’t pretend like Seattle’s loss against the Rams wasn’t concerning. However, it was the team’s first home game back in LA in over 2 decades and Russell Wilson was playing on a bum ankle. The Seahawks should definitely be concerned about their offensive line, but I think that was more of an aberration game than anything else.
  10. Texans (2-0)
    • The Texans’ defense is legit and so is Will Fuller, but the Texans QB situation is still in question even after all the money they spent to fix the problem in the off-season.
  11. Giants (2-0)
    • Unlike Houston, the Giants spent a bunch of money to fix a problem and boy is it fixed. I don’t know what the ceiling is for this year’s Giants defense, but it is crystal clear after only 2 games they are leaps and bounds better than they were last year on that side of the ball. Oh yeah, and the offense hasn’t even started to play up to their potential yet.
  12. Chiefs (1-1)
    • In Week 1 the Chiefs struggled on defense, in week 2 they couldn’t get the ball in the endzone. There’s no shame in losing to Houston, but the Chiefs desperately need Jamaal Charles back in the lineup.
  13. Cowboys (1-1)
    • Dallas found a gem in the 4th round of the draft in Prescott and it has made all the difference for them. It used to be when Romo went down, the Cowboys offense became non-existent. Now Romo is down and the question is will his job be there for him when he returns.
  14. Jets (1-1)
    • The Jets probably feel like they should be 2-0 and one could certainly make that case. The secondary is still a big weakness for this team but offensively they’ve got some play makers and the offensive line looks better from last year.
  15. Eagles (2-0)
    • On 1 hand the Eagles are 2-0. On the other, their 2 wins are against the two teams I have at the bottom of my power rankings. We’ll find out what this team is really about this week against the Steelers.
  16. Ravens (2-0)
    • The Ravens are the most uninspiring 2-0 team in the league. Yeah, they rallied from a 20 point deficit to beat the Browns, but what the hell were you doing down by 20 to them in the first place?
  17. Raiders (1-1)
    • The Raiders have a pretty good offense, but their defensive free agent acquisitions aren’t paying off and Khalil Mack hasn’t been as dominant as we’re accustomed to seeing.
  18. Chargers (1-1)
    • If the Chargers could’ve just held on against the Chiefs they’re an undefeated team. They looked like world beaters against a Jags team I had high hopes for coming into this season.
  19. Buccaneers (1-1)
    • What we have with the Bucs is a team who had back-to-back aberration games on the opposite side of the spectrum. Jameis and that offense isn’t quite as good as they looked in week 1, but I don’t think they’re as bad as they played in week 2 either.
  20. Falcons (1-1)
    • I’ve been highly surprised by how good Matt Ryan looks after he finished the season so poorly in 2015. The Falcons’ defense just isn’t nearly good enough for them to be a playoff team, but if Ryan keeps this level of play up they’ll certainly be a lot more respectable than I thought they could be.
  21. Rams (1-1)
    • The Rams are 1 of the biggest teases in the NFL. Every year they pull of huge upsets 1 week and yet have weeks like week 1 against the 49ers where they completely lay an egg. I just don’t know what to make of the Rams.
  22. Titans (1-1)
    • The Titans don’t appear to have much of an offense, but the defense looks amazing so far. They’ve yet to face an elite offense, but shutting down Adrian Peterson in week 1 and holding down a respectable Stafford led Lions offense in week 2 are both very respectable performances.
  23. Lions (1-1)
    • One week they display good clock management and late game execution. The next week they’re squandering a 4th-quarter lead against the Titans. Just who are they Lions?
  24. Saints (0-2)
    • The Saints struggles on defense are well documented, but holding the Giants offense without an offensive TD is about as good as you can hope to accomplish if you’re the Saints. They can’t lose a game to the Giants where they only allowed 16 points, it’s just unacceptable.
  25. Colts (0-2)
    • The Colts have a very poorly built roster, it’s just as simple as that. You have a crappy defense and an offense with a turnover-prone QB and no running game. It’s gonna be a rough year for Indy this season.
  26. 49ers (1-1)
    • The 49ers came crashing way back to Earth and looked like the team I thought they were.
  27. Bills (0-2)
    • The Bills are just a joke right now. Give up 37 points and score over 30 points on offense and somehow the offensive coordinator gets fired. With so much stupidity from the people making decisions, I just don’t know how this team is going to prosper.
  28. Redskins (0-2)
    • The Redskins can’t consistently move the ball on offense, they have no running game and the defense can’t stop anybody in either phase of the game. This is a pretty horrible team right now and not at all living up to what many thought they would be in the preseason.
  29. Dolphins (0-2)
    • The Dolphins have some talent but Tannehill is overpaid and the Dolphins are stuck with him which also means they’re stuck in the AFC East basement.
  30. Jaguars (0-2)
    • What is going on with the Jags? The offense hasn’t been anywhere near as good as it should be and the defense hasn’t made any real improvement. They’re looking like the same ol Jags so far.
  31. Bears (0-2)
    • The Bears are terrible on defense and not having McPhee pretty much means they’re completely devoid of any top tier players on that side of the ball. Offensively, they can’t run the ball and Cutler continues to play like… well Jay Cutler.
  32. Browns (0-2)
    • The Browns are the worst team in football, I don’t really have anything else to say.
