UA-59049186-1 Week 2 NFL Quick Takes - Good if it Goes

Week 2 NFL Quick Takes

Thu 9/15

  • NYJ 37 @ Buf 31
    • It was a shootout in NY that ultimately Fitzpatrick and the Jets ended up winning. Yet I’m so confused at how the Bills give up 37 points, score 31 points and the offensive coordinator gets fired while the defensive-minded head coach and his defensive coordinator brother are safe.

Sun 9/18

  • Cin 16 @ Pit 24
    • I predicted these two teams would split and with some of their key guys still hurt, this loss really isn’t that big of deal for the Bengals. But man, the Steelers look really good right now.
  • Ten 16 @ Det 15
    • The Lions did everything in this game but win the game. I thought maybe they could be ready to not be the Lions, but apparently they’re still the Lions.
  • Bal 25 @ Cle 20
    • The Browns had us all thinking maybe they weren’t going to be a joke this season, turns out the joke was on us as the Ravens erased a 20-point deficit to beat a Browns team that as we all thought is awful.
  • Dal 27 @ Wsh 23
    • HOW BOUT THEM COWBOYS!!!! I’m still not convinced they’re going to the playoffs unless Romo gets back and STAYS back. But it was nice to see the defense win a game for them for a change.
  • NO 13 @ NYG 16
    • The Giants are really starting to grow on me. The offense still hasn’t come close to being what I think they can be once they get clicking. Meanwhile, the Giants defense looks completely rejuvenated.
  • SF 27 @ Car 46
    • The Panthers bounced back nicely (albeit against the Niners) after the loss to the Broncos on opening night but as I expected, Carolina is going to be a force to be reckoned with in the NFC. The 1 bright spot for the 49ers right now is that they’re a hell of a lot better than I thought they could be on offense.
  • Mia 24 @ NE 31
    • Jimmy G pretty much is who I thought he was and now the rest of the world gets to catch up to what I already knew. The Dolphins actually aren’t a bad team when it comes to talent with the exception of the QB position. Tanehill continues to hold this team back.
  • KC 12 @ Hou 19
    • The Texans are flying way under the radar right now as a legitimate contender in the AFC. A lot of it is because of the division they play in but they just proved they can beat a legit team in the Chiefs, who were the favorites coming into the year to win the AFC West.
  • Sea 3 @ LA 9
    • The Rams completely shocked me by winning this game. Even with the offensive line issues, the Seahawks should have been able to score at least 10 points. Wilson did have a bad ankle and ultimately I think Seattle will be fine, but man this just looks so bad considering how the Rams looked week 1.
  • TB 7 @ Ari 40
    • Talk about a difference a week makes. In week 1, the Cardinals lost to a Brady and Gronkless Pats team and all of sudden the sky was falling in the Desert. And down in the southeast region, the Bucs were dominant offensively and Winston was on his way to the Pro Bowl. But hold your horses! The Cardinals showed that 1 game is just 1 game and that they are very much still a legitimate contender in the NFC.
  • Jax 14 @ SD 38
    • The Jags haven’t lived up to the hype that I and a lot of other analysts gave them in the off-season, meanwhile the Chargers, if nothing else, look like they may be 1 of the most explosive offenses in football.
  • Atl 35 @ Oak 28
    • The Raiders can move the ball on offense and put up points, but they’re defense is terrible so far. The Falcons have surprised me with how well they’ve played on offense. We knew what Julio could do, but Matt Ryan looks way better than he did a year ago and Sanu seems to have been a great pickup.
  • Ind 20 @ Den 34
    • The Colts are who I thought they were and that’s a mediocre team with a bad defense, no running game, and a talented QB who turns it over too much. The Broncos defense is still so good that it may carry even the likes of Trevor Siemian to the playoffs.
  • GB 14 @ Min 17
    • The Vikings defense is really really really good and Sam Bradford may have landed in the best situation of his career. Meanwhile, the Packers need to really get some things figured out on offense as they took a major step back from week 1.

Mon 9/19

  • Phi 29 @ Chi 14
    • On 1 hand it has to be shocking that the Eagles are 2-0 and Carson Wentz is playing so well. On the other hand, they’ve been very fortunate to have their 1st 2 games against Cleveland and Chicago. We’ll see what happens this week when they play Pittsburgh.
