Elliott was good for St. Louis, Crawford was better for the Hawks, notching his league-leading seventh shutout. WGN aired a graphic saying that they were all at home, so now Jimmy Waite’s job is to find a way to convince Crawford that he’s at home for every game. At that point, I believe the Hawks become unbeatable.
The offense started out slow, managing only six shots in the first, but controlled the action for a lot of the rest of the game. After the last couple of games, it was nice to see the Hawks make adjustments in that capacity. Panarin got the Hawks on the board in the second off a great feed from Kane. Shaw made it 2-0 on a re-direct from Hossa. The defense did a nice job limiting opportunities for the Blues; after giving up 12 shots in the first, the Blues got only 13 more the rest of the way.
My picks for 3 stars:
★★★ Andrew Shaw, F, CHI (1 G)
★★ Artemi Panarin, LW, CHI (1 G (GWG))
★ Corey Crawford, G, CHI (25 SV, SO)
