Blackhawks 2, Islanders 1 (SO)
- Updated: March 4, 2017
The Blackhawks were missing multiple key contributors, played pretty poorly for much of the game, and came away with two points anyway. Thomas Greiss stood on his head for the visiting Islanders, but Corey Crawford was able to keep his team in it until Artemi Panarin could get one past Greiss with 1:14 to play. The Hawks had a couple more chances in the remainder of regulation, but none went in and we would head to overtime. In OT, both Greiss and Crawford made some big saves to send the game to a shoot-out. The Hawks would take the shoot-out 2-0 for the extra point.
A few things
- Artem Anisimov could play against Nashville Saturday. Nick Schmaltz was sick and could also play against the Predators. Niklas Hjalmarsson and Johnny Oduya are unlikely to play until after the upcoming four-day break. Scott Darling was injured during Friday’s morning skate and could miss as much as three weeks.
My picks for 3 stars
★★★ Thomas Greiss, G, NYI (30 SV, 1 GA)
★★ Artemi Panarin, LW, CHI (1 G)
★ Corey Crawford, G, CHI (31 SV, 1 GA)
