Blackhawks 5, Predators 3
- Updated: March 4, 2017
On Chicago’s 180th birthday, the Blackhawks were in Nashville defending a couple different winning streaks: 6 overall and 7 on the road. Early on, it was clear the Hawks had played the night before, but a Jordin Tootoo fight with Cody McLeod seemed to energize the team a bit. Later in the period, the Hawks struck first on a Patrick Kane power play goal. That would be the first period’s only score. A little over eleven minutes into the second, Tootoo got his first point of the year when he pushed the lead to 2-0. The Predators would get one back 1:17 after Tootoo’s tally. With just under a minute left in the period, Jonathan Toews scored on a power play to push the lead back to two. This time, the Predators would strike back just 14 seconds later. The Predators tied the game 4:13 into the third and it would stay tied until Jonathan Toews set up Brian Campbell for the go-ahead goal with just 65 seconds to play. Artemi Panarin would feed Kaner for an empty-netter to seal the game.
A few things
- Corey Crawford had a rough outing. The defense let him down a couple times, but the second and third goals should have been stopped.
- Artem Anisimov returned to the lineup. Nick Schmaltz was still out.
My picks for 3 stars
★★★ Jordin Tootoo, W, CHI (1 G)
★★ Viktor Arvidsson, LW, NSH (2 G)
★ Jonathan Toews, C, CHI (1 G, 1 A)
Honorary ★ Chicago (Happy birthday!)
