After a less than ideal first person that the Blackhawks were probably lucky to finish tied, considering how badly they were outshot, the Hawks rebounded in the second. In the third, the team was again outshot, but they played mostly good hockey and made the most of an opportunity presented when Washington was anticipating an icing call and eased up on a play, only for there to be no icing. The refs were waving the icing off with plenty of time for someone to point out that it had been waved off, but Washington complained about the situation anyway. Crawford only let in two, but one was not-so-good and the other was downright bad. The defense was not great in the first, then much better the rest of the way. Andrew Ladd and Tomas Fleischmann looked good in their re-debut and debut, respectively. Dale Weise is still waiting on a visa issue to be resolved. Turbo played center and had a very good game.
My picks for 3 stars:
★★★ Patrick Kane, RW, CHI (1 G)
★★ Teuvo Teräväinen, F, CHI (1 A)
★ Jonathan Toews, C, CHI (1 G)
