Blackhawks 3, Sabres 2 (OT)
- Updated: December 9, 2017

Corey Crawford returned to the ice and the Blackhawks snapped a five-game winless streak. It wasn’t pretty at times and they never lead in the game, so obviously, there are still some kinks to be worked out. The Hawks greatly out-shot the Sabres, but were never able to truly take control of the game. The Sabres looked like they were going to put the game away until they got a power play following a really stupid Brent Seabrook penalty late in the third and Nick Schmaltz had a really good series and got some offense going, leading to Tommy Wingels redirecting a Gustav Forsling shot into the net for a shorthanded goal to tie the game. The Hawks got the better of the action in overtime, but the game was looking like it was headed for a shootout until Forsling scored the game-winner with five seconds to go in overtime.
My picks for 3 stars
★★★ Robin Lehner, G, BUF (48 SV, 3 GA)
★★ Tommy Wingels, C, CHI (1 G)
★ Gustav Forsling, D, CHI (1 G (GWG), 2 A)
