Blackhawks 3, Stars 2 (SO)
- Updated: March 24, 2017
The Blackhawks didn’t have their greatest game, but a few nice plays and superb goaltending got them two points, pulling farther ahead of the Wild and staying in the race for the Presidents’ Trophy. Patrick Kane got the scoring started in the first on a 2-on-1 on a power play. Ales Hemsky would tie the game in the second. Marian Hossa broke the tie 8:37 into the third off a great pass from Nick Schmaltz, but Hemsky would tie the game a little over six minutes later. That score would hold for the rest of regulation, so we would head to overtime. The Hawks mostly dominated the OT period, but neither team found the back of the net, so we would head to a shootout, which the Hawks would take 2-1.
A few things
- Ryan Hartman was at 2C for this game. Having already clinched a playoff spot allows Q the opportunity to experiment a bit, but I wouldn’t do this again.
My picks for 3 stars
★★★ Patrick Kane, RW, CHI (1 G)
★★ Ales Hemsky, RW, DAL (2 G)
★ Corey Crawford, G, CHI (42 SV, 2 GA)
