It’s always fun beating the Kings. It’s extra fun snapping a 7-game L.A. win streak. The defense stepped up in this one. Gustafsson is really showing that he belongs in the NHL. I think I’d play him over Svedberg after Keith gets back. The offense was very good; they got four by Quick and could have had a few others. Dano was fine in his Hawks debut. Once Rozsival’s ready to play, I’d send Hartman back to Rockford. I didn’t like the idea of splitting up Panarin and Kane since their games complement one another so well, but putting Turbo on the second line seemed to get him going and the top line of Panarin-Toews-Garbutt worked well. Going forward though, I still think I’d switch Turbo and Panarin, but if Q doesn’t, that’s fine.
Before I make my 3 star picks, a few honorable mentions, because it was awfully hard picking just three guys here. Ryan Garbutt (1 A) had a great pass on Toews’ goal. Jonathan Toews (1 G, 1 A) only didn’t get a star because Anisimov’s breakaway was filthy. And Teuvo Teräväinen (1 G (GWG)) for the GWG.
My picks for 3 stars:
★★★ Corey Crawford, G, CHI (33 SV, 2 GA)
★★ Artem Anisimov, C, CHI (1 G, 1 A)
★ Patrick Kane, RW, CHI (1 G (GTG), 1 A)
