Blackhawks 6, Jets 2
- Updated: March 30, 2018
Before the game started, Brent Seabrook was honored for playing 1,o00 games as a member of the Blackhawks. The team put on a nice tribute with messages from current and former teammates. At the other end of the spectrum were Dylan Sikura and Collin Delia, both playing their first NHL games, the latter due to an injury in warmups to Anton Forsberg. The Hawks scored early and often, getting a four-goal lead before Winnipeg got one of their own 14:24 into the second. Tomas Jurco had a pair in the second. That would not be the weirdest thing to happen in this game, though, as Delia went down with 14 minutes to play and in would come emergency goalie Scott Foster, an accountant who plays beer league hockey at Johnny’s Ice House. The Hawks were up four at the time, so you just hoped that Foster could manage not to blow that. He not only didn’t blow the lead, he didn’t allow a goal, going a perfect 7-for-7. So if you’re in the Chicagoland area, it’s possible that a man tied for the NHL’s all-time best save percentage may be doing your taxes.
My picks for 3 stars
★★★ Alex DeBrincat, RW, CHI (1 G, 1 A)
★★ Tomas Jurco, RW, CHI (2 G (GWG))
★ Collin Delia, G, CHI (25 SV, 2 GA), Scott Foster, G, CHI (7 SV, 0 GA)
