Blue Jackets 3, Blackhawks 2 – Recap
- Updated: October 21, 2016
The Hawks’ penalty kill unit let them down again as the Blue Jackets went 2-for-2. The Blackhawks were chasing the game mostly from the start, getting out-shot in the first period, and then falling behind by 2 in the second. The Hawks played a good third period and had some opportunities to tie the game, but were unable to cash in on them.
A few things
- So the PK unit – first of all, they’re letting opponents camp out in front of Crawford. Gotta move those guys away from the front of the net. Second, Crawford’s not doing a great job of battling the screens. Third, they’re doing a really lousy job of blocking shots.
- Outside of a couple biffs that went in the net, Crawford played really well. He made a few big stops on breakaways and other great looks for Columbus.
- Tyler Motte had his first NHL goal. He’s played very good hockey thus far.
- TvR went down with an arm injury and didn’t return.
My picks for 3 stars
★★★ Sergey Bobrovski, G, CBJ (32 SV, 2 GA)
★★ Tyler Motte, LW, CHI (1 G)
★ Zach Werenski, D, CBJ (1 G, 1 A)
