The Blackhawks got out to a great start in the first, then in the second took their foot off the gas and let Columbus right back into the game. The Blue Jackets would end up taking the lead in the third before a Patrick Kane goal tied it. The Hawks got a couple great looks on a long power play that includes a 48-second 2-man advantage, but Bobrovsky made some great saves to keep the game tied. The Hawks had their chances in OT, but a Teräväinen penalty gave Columbus an extra skater and they capitalized to take the extra point.
Should you be upset about this one? No, not really. This one didn’t matter for anything; Pat Foley explicitly said so to open the broadcast. This team knows they can’t take their foot off the gas like that in the playoffs. Toews, Hossa, Anisimov, Shaw, Hjalmarsson, and Keith should all be back. Which leads me to Crawford – was he good? No. He looked a bit rusty. Considering that this was his first game in almost a month and the Hawks were short all those aforementioned pieces, was he okay? Yeah, pretty much. Are these guys ready for the playoffs? I think so.
My picks for 3 stars:
★★★ Patrick Kane, RW, CHI (2 G, 1 A)
★★ Scott Hartnell, LW, CBJ (2 G (GWG), 2 A)
★ Artemi Panarin, LW, CHI (2 G, 1 A)
