Flyers 3, Blackhawks 1 – Recap
- Updated: December 3, 2016
The Blackhawks got off to a slow start, but actually struck first. Artemi Panarin got the Hawks on the board 3:44 into the game. The lead would hold for the remainder of the period. The second period did not go as well. Ivan Provorov scored just over 3 minutes into the second. 31 seconds later, he scored again. Brayden Schenn made it 3-1 on a 3-on-2 that Trevor van Riemsdyk biffed. The Hawks would pick up their play and get some chances, but were unable to get anything else past Steve Mason.
A few things
- Corey Crawford underwent an appendectomy Saturday morning. Q said he’ll be out 2-3 weeks. I won’t be surprised if it’s a bit longer. Scott Darling will be fine as long as the defense doesn’t let him down. Lars Johansson will come up from Rockford to back him up. Today, his backup was Eric Semborski, a former club hockey player at Temple signed for the day as an emergency goalie.
- Jonathan Toews was still out, though he is skating again. He could play Sunday against the Jets.
- The Hawks have got to start shooting more on the power play. They’re waiting too long trying to get the perfect shot. Sometimes, you just have to take the shot you can get. Get pucks to the net and take your chances.
My picks for 3 stars
★★★ Artemi Panarin, LW, CHI (1 G)
★★ Steve Mason, G, PHI (26 SV, 1 GA)
★ Ivan Provorov, D, PHI (2 G (GWG))
