This is a pretty big let-down by the Blackhawks. They controlled the action for most of the game, but couldn’t get one past Brian Elliott. The power play is going to need some serious work if the Hawks are going to advance. The defense was great, even without Duncan Keith. Crawford played well, though the defense kept his life relatively easy. Unfortunately, the puck took a bad bounce off TvR’s skate for the game-winner. Game 2 is feeling a bit like a must-win after this.
My picks for 3 stars:
★★★ David Backes, C, STL (1 G (GWG))
★★ Niklas Hjalmarsson, D, CHI (5 Bks)
★ Brian Elliott, G, STL (35 SV, SO)
