Top 100 NBA Players of 2016: 20-11
- Updated: October 20, 2016
- PF. Paul Millsap – Atlanta Hawks
- Very high IQ and savvy basketball player that has found a way to play at a star level and make the absolute most of what he was given.
- Elite defensive player that is ridiculously more effective than he should be on that end given his size limitations and average athleticism.
- All-around player on offense capable of playing all 3 front court positions. Can score in the post, PnR/PnP game, mid-range, and can hit 3s. Also is a very good passer.
- SF. Carmelo Anthony – New York Knicks
- Former offensive superstar that is starting to decline. Game lacks burst or explosiveness.
- Still an effective scorer, lethal mid-range game, he’s at his best from triple treat position near the elbows.
- Much improved play maker that takes advantage of double teams and is more willing to get his teammates involved. Averaged career his 4.2 APG.
- C. Marc Gasol – Memphis Grizzlies
- Crafty all-around big that impacts the game in many different ways. Elite passing big that functions as his teams “point center” due to his excellent vision and feel for the game.
- Highly skilled offensive player that excels as a face up player. Good mid-range shooter and is capable of putting the ball on the floor. Has fabulous footwork on the low block.
- Former elite defender that is starting to decline. Injuries and age are starting to take their toll on him, will be 32 in January.
- PG. Damian Lillard – Portland Trail Blazers
- Shoot-first PG with unlimited range and quick trigger, big-time scoring ability and is capable of getting hot and going nuclear
- Improving playmaker and passer, making an effort to get his teammates more involved and becoming a more willing passer.
- Poor defensive player that simply doesn’t compete on that end, has tools to be better
- SF. Jimmy Butler – Chicago Bulls
- 2 way wing that is capable of carrying the offensive load and sticking opposing teams best perimeter scorer.
- All-around offensive game, is best with the ball in his hands. Can create his own offense and for others. Rebounds at a high level for a 2 guard.
- Streaky shooter that must get more consistent to take his game to the next level.
- PF. Lamarcus Aldridge – San Antonio Spurs
- Highly-skilled offensive big man that thrives in the mid-range area.
- Good defender that utilizes his length and intelligence to be effective on that end of the floor.
- Good defensive rebounder and has some ability to protect rim
- PG. Kyrie Irving – Cleveland Cavaliers
- Budding offensive superstar that is just starting to scratch the surface of what he can become.
- Not a true PG: Has average at best vision combined with tunnel vision and very suspect shot selection that can cause the offense to break down and come to a complete halt when he isn’t on.
- Inconsistent defender: Has a reputation for being a poor defender and there is evidence to support that but he has also shown ability to defend well when he actually decides to try.
- SG. Klay Thompson – Golden State Warriors
- Elite Shooter with range extending far beyond the 3 point line and the quickest release in the league.
- 2 way wing that takes the term “3 & D” to a whole nother level. Elite perimeter defender capable of guarding all 3 perimeter positions and lights out shooter from all over the court.
- Limited Offensively in terms of creating his own offense in large part due to average handle and limited athleticism and quickness.
- PF. Draymond Green – Golden State Warriors
- All-around 2 way star player that can impact games in every phase of the game
- Offensively Green can play the role of point forward, stretch 4, or score as a traditional big in the screen game via PnR/PnP. Back to back post game is functional.
- Defensively, Green is right there with Lebron as the most versatile defender in the NBA. He can guard 4 positions and is 1 of the best off ball defenders in the NBA.
- PF. Blake Griffin – Los Angles Clippers
- Supremely gifted athletic big man that runs and jumps like a wing. Just throw the ball up in his area and he can dunk it.
- Rare combination of speed, quickness, power and touch make him un-guardable by most bigs. Face-up game is absolutely lethal and he can score back to the basket as well.
- Decent defender that can hold his own 1 on 1 with anybody due to his physical traits. His lack of length hurts at times but he’s far from a liability on that end.
