WWE Survivor Series 2015 Review

Roman Reigns defeated Alberto Del Rio in a semifinal match in the WWE World Heavyweight Championship Tournament

This was a solid match, but nothing spectacular. After nearly being pinned, Del Rio made a comeback and the match went back and forth for a bit. Both men got some big shots in: Reigns a Superman punch and Del Rio a backbreaker and later a superkick, though none of these got a pinfall. Del Rio got the cross armbreaker on Reigns, but Reigns put Del Rio over the ropes to break the hold.

Finish: Del Rio went for a move off the top, but Reigns moved and then speared Del Rio and pinned him

★★★

Dean Ambrose defeated Kevin Owens in a semifinal match in the WWE World Heavyweight Championship Tournament

This was a great back-and-forth match. Both men tried desperately to gain the upper hand. Owens seemed to have it after countering Ambrose’s superplex attempt into one of his own, but Ambrose came back.

Finish: Owens had Ambrose up for the Pop-up Powerbomb, but Ambrose countered, got out of it, then hit Dirty Deeds and pinned Owens

★★★★½

Ryback, the Lucha Dragons (Kalisto y Sin Cara),and the Usos (Jimmy and Jey) defeated Sheamus, King Barrett, and the New Day (Big E, Kofi Kingston, Xavier Woods) in a traditional Survivor Series 5-on-5 elimination tag team match

Charlotte defeated Paige to retain the WWE Divas Championship

The match started out back-and-forth before Paige took control and got the heat on Charlotte. Charlotte would make a comeback and run wild on Paige for a while. Paige would be able to re-take control of the match, though. Charlotte would make another comeback and the match went back-and-forth until Charlotte hit a spear and then Natural Selection. Cole no-sold Natural Selection. Idiot. Paige rolled out of the ring. Paige got up and showboated on the barricade then Charlotte speared her off of it.

Finish: Paige submitted to the Figure Eight.

They tried, but this was a very meh match.

Tyler Breeze (w/ Summer Rae) defeated Dolph Ziggler

I’m sick of both of these guys. The announcers talked about how similar the two guys were. Lawler made dad jokes. Idiot.

Finish: Breeze hit the Unprettier and pinned Ziggler.

The Brothers of Destruction (The Undertaker and Kane) defeated The Wyatt Family (Bray Wyatt and Luke Harper w/ Erick Rowan and Braun Strowman)

The Brothers of Destruction took control fairly early and maintained it until Strowman threw Kane over the announce table behind the referee’s back. Kane was eventually able to tag in Taker and Taker re-took control of the match. Taker and Kane went to the outside and double chokeslammed Strowman though the Spanish announce table. In the time it took to do this, Bray and Harper gathered themselves and got the heat on Taker and Kane briefly. Then Taker and Kane made their comeback.

Finish: Taker and Kane chokeslammed Bray and Harper respectively. Then Bray was thrown out of the ring. Taker tombstoned Harper and pinned him.

This was not a very good match. I don’t know what exactly I was expecting, but I was expecting better than this.

Roman Reigns defeated Dean Ambrose to win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship

The match went back-and-forth early on as these two men who knew one another so well each looked to gain the upper hand. For a while Dean would take control. Then Roman would take control. Then Dean again. Ambrose would hit Dirty Deeds after dodging two spear attempts from Reigns, but Reigns kicked out.

Finish: The match went back-and-forth again, then Reigns hit the Spear and won.

★★★¼

After the match, Triple H came out to congratulate Reigns. Reigns refused to shake his hand, then got hit with a Brogue Kick by Sheamus. Sheamus then cashed in the Money in the Bank.

Sheamus defeated Roman Reigns to win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship

Finish (And I guess Start, too.): Reigns kicked out of Sheamus’ cover, then when Sheamus went for a second one, Reigns went to counter with a Spear, but Sheamus got out of the way and then hit another Brogue Kick and pinned Reigns.

Overall: Owens and Ambrose had a great match. Nobody else did.
