My Instant impact true freshmen
- Updated: August 13, 2016
College football is near and your favorite analyst is here (haha) to give you my preseason breakdown. The lists that I compile are opinions of my own. This is who I think will make the most impact to his football team not top 5 ranking.
1. Greg Little – LT, Ole Miss
Once again Hugh Freeze brings in a potential top 5 draft pick in 3-4 years. Little was the number 1 rated tackle out of high school. From day one he was be placed at left tackle replacing first rounder Laremy Tunsil. Little has little time to get reps under his belt as Ole Miss faces FSU week 1.
Yeah I know Georgia has Greyson Lambert returning but let’s keep it real, the kid sucks. Georgia ranked 83rd nationally in passing in 2015. Enter 2016 and Georgia signs the number 1 QB in the nation out of high school. He might not start week 1, but I guarantee the job will be his before the big Florida rivalry game and he’s making his mark on the college game.
3. Dexter Lawrence – DT, Clemson
Last season, Clemson entered the season having lost 9 defensive starters, yet still finished 10th in defense and played for the National Championship. This season they lose Shaq Lawson and Kevin Dodd on the front to the NFL. Clemson as of late has been a hotbed for future NFL defensive lineman and Lawrence is the next great one. He’s too talented to keep on the sideline and I expect him to be in the rotation early and eventually to become a starter.
4. Austin Mack -WR, Ohio state
Ohio state lost Michael Thomas, Jalin Marshall, Braxton Miller all to the NFL. Urban Meyer has stated that he needs his young WRs to step up and be playmakers. Mack, who is from my native Indiana, is a 6’2, tall and physical presence. He going to have huge impact as JT Barrett looks to find his go to guy this season.
This is the highest rated player in recent memory I can remember Michigan signing. Gary is a monster. If Michigan wants to get back to its old days of great lineman THIS IS HOW YOU RECRUIT. Michigan already brings back the best defensive line group in the country and they are adding the best freshman to their lineup. Gary will start and I truly expect him to be a top 10 pick in 3 years.
