Another clunker for the Hawks offensively. The Q’s-an-art was running at max capacity, attempting to find a way to jumpstart the offense. Nothing worked. Is it finally Dano time? How about Kero time? Can’t just sit on your hands here, something needs to be done. You can’t just count on Crawford shutting teams out forever, especially with Keith still out.
As for the defense: I’m pretty sure I’ve said this before, but you have to come up with a better idea than Rundblad. I don’t care if Q suits up himself, I’ve seen enough of Rundblad. He was mostly okay in the offensive end, but took one of the dumbest penalties I’ve ever seen. With a penalty upcoming against the Ducks and the Hawks already on the power play. Rundblad decides to carry the puck about 150 feet away from the Anaheim net, thus further delaying a 5-on-3 opportunity. If that wasn’t stupid enough, he then holds Kesler’s stick and gets sent off himself.
Crawford was outstanding. He won this one for the Hawks. Andersen was good as well, but isn’t getting a star from me after pushing the net off the moorings with the Hawks about to score, negating a Panarin goal. The net was dislodged before the puck went in and the whistle had blown, but that’s not the point. Andersen kicked the net off the moorings. So, Crawford, Darling, every time the opposing team enters their offensive zone, kick the net away. Apparently, you can do that. And it got Anaheim a point here, so even though the Hawks won, I’m none too happy about that.
My picks for 3 stars:
★★★ Patrick Kane, RW, CHI (1 A)
★★ Jonathan Toews, C, CHI (1 G (GWG))
★ Corey Crawford, G, CHI (39 SV, SO)
