UA-59049186-1 Blackhawks 2, Senators 1 - Good if it Goes

Blackhawks 2, Senators 1

Box score (Yahoo)

Scott Darling made his return to the ice and John Hayden made his NHL debut as the Blackhawks took on the Senators in Ottawa Thursday. The game was a goalie battle that went into the third scoreless with both Darling and John Condon making some big saves for their teams. Duncan Keith got the scoring started just over eight minutes into the third when a shot trickled in. The Senators would pick up their play and take control of the action after that. Ottawa would tie the game a few minutes later on a power play. The Senators held onto the momentum after that, but the Hawks would get a couple chances of their own and draw a penalty on one of them. The Senators would take another penalty toward the end of their first penalty kill and on that second power play, Patrick Kane found Richard Panik for what would be the game-winner.

A few things

  • John Hayden looked good in his debut. The game never seemed too big for him.
  • Turns out Artem Anisimov is not day-to-day; he’s out 3-4 weeks. He could be back for the start of the playoffs, though, which is still a lot better than what it looked like when he initially went down.

My picks for 3 stars

★★★ Mike Condon, G, OTT (26 SV, 2 GA)

★★ Richard Panik, W, CHI (1 G (GWG))

★ Scott Darling, G, CHI (33 SV, 1 GA)
