This was one of the more complete games I’ve seen the Hawks play lately. Offense was good, defense was good, goaltending was good. Turbo looked pretty good on the top line with Toews and Hossa. He seemed almost “there,” coming very close to making a few nice plays. He got the GWG in a nice effort, and while it still wasn’t quite what we’d hoped we’d see from him this year, he definitely looked like he was getting there at 1LW.

Trevor Daley got hurt on an unfortunate play where he was losing his balance just as Thorburn got there and Daley took a knee to the head. Not a dirty play at all and Thorburn was clearly upset over what happened. Daley did leave the ice on his feet, albeit slowly and with help. If he’s out for any length of time, I’d call up Gustafsson.

Patrick Kane extended his point streak to 22, eclipsing Bobby Hull’s franchise record with a hand pass to Panarin, who scored on the empty net. It’s very early, but Kane has been the best player in the league to this point.

My picks for 3 stars:

★★★ Jonathan Toews, C, CHI (1 A)

★★ Teuvo Teräväinen, F, CHI (1 G (GWG)

★ Marian Hossa, RW, CHI (1 G, 1 A)
