Pittsburgh controlled the action for most of the game, but luckily for the Hawks, a combination of bad bounces, bad shots, and Good Corey kept the Penguins off the board in the first two periods. The Penguins were able to find the back of the net twice in the third to tie it and force overtime. This might have been the most fun overtime yet to watch; players flying around the ice, getting great chances at both ends. Crawford and Fleury both made some great saves in OT. Toews went to the dressing room during the OT period, a cause for concern for the Hawks and their fans, but while he would miss the rest of this one, he was only cut and should be just fine. Even without the captain on the ice, the Hawks were able to get the extra point when Panarin went up top on Fleury for his second goal of the night.
My picks for 3 stars:
★★★ Corey Crawford, G, CHI (34 SV, 2 GA)
★★ Kris Letang, D, PIT (1 G, 1 A)
★ Artemi Panarin, LW, CHI (2 G (GWG))
