Blackhawks 3, Stars 1
- Updated: December 11, 2016
The Blackhawks got out to a strong start, though neither team lit the lamp in the first twenty. The Stars would break the 0-0 tie just under a minute-and-a-half into the second on a goal by Devin Shore where the Hawks were out-manned on defense and not much help to Scott Darling. Less than a minute after Dallas took the lead, the Hawks tied the game when Marian Hossa snuck one through Kari Lehtonen. Not a good goal for Lehtonen to give up. A while later in the second, Anisimov found a loose puck on the doorstep and gave the Hawks a 2-1 lead. Midway through the third, Artemi Panarin would extend the lead to 2 on a goal set up beautifully by Duncan Keith. The Hawks would be able to hold the lead and come away with two points.
A few things
- Jonathan Toews and Brent Seabrook remained out. Both could be back during the upcoming road trip. The former is really not a sure thing, though.
- Scott Darling had another excellent game in net. During this stretch as the everyday starter, he’s allowed only 7 goals in 5 games, and boasts a .952 save percentage.
- Ryan Hartman played very well. He was all over the ice and created multiple offensive opportunities for the Blackhawks.
My picks for 3 stars
★★★ Duncan Keith, D, CHI (1 A)
★★ Scott Darling, G, CHI (23 SV, 1 GA)
★ Ryan Hartman, W, CHI (1 A)
