Blackhawks 4, Coyotes 2
- Updated: October 22, 2017
The Coyotes have one point, no wins, and shaky goaltending and were in this game. The Coyotes struck first, but their lead would last only a minute and a second. The Blackhawks kept the game tied during a parade of penalties in the first period that could have really swung the game to the Coyotes. Patrick Kane scored on a breakaway just over eleven-and-a-half minutes into the second to give the Hawks a 2-1 that they would hold until the later stages of the period when Clayton Keller tied the game. In the interim, the Hawks momentarily thought they had a 3-1 lead after Wingels found the back of the net on a penalty shot. That goal would be disallowed after review, as it was ruled that Louis Domingue touched the puck. I’m not sure about that decision. Lance Bouma got his first goal in a Blackhawks sweater with just under four-and-a-half minutes to play in the game to give the Hawks the lead once again. Tommy Wingels would add an empty-netter for insurance. That was Wingels’s first goal as a Blackhawk and this one would count.
My picks for 3 stars
★★★ Jonathan Toews, C, CHI (2 A)
★★ Patrick Kane, RW, CHI (1 G)
★ Lance Bouma, LW, CHI (1 G (GWG), 1 A)
