The Blackhawks picked up a much-needed two points in Calgary with a three-goal win over the Flames, though for much of the game, it was significantly closer than that. The offense was still a bit sluggish, though they did get a few good looks that Joni Ortio turned away. The Hawks defense still has some room for improvement, though they didn’t make any really dumb mistakes. Calgary got their chances, but Scott Darling turned in a great game in the blue paint, holding the Flames to a single goal.

Marcus Kruger made his return for the Hawks in this one and his presence was certainly felt on the penalty kill. The unit had been struggling, but they were strong in this one.

My picks for 3 stars:

★★★ Andrew Shaw, F, CHI(1 G (GWG))

★★ Andrew Ladd, LW, CHI (2 G, 1 A)

★ Scott Darling, G, CHI (31 SV, 1 GA)
