The offense was very good. The defense was okay. Crawford was on-and-off. The Hawks got off to a good start, striking first. Then the Sharks found the back of the next twice. The Hawks evened things up before the first intermission. They weren’t quite as good in the second and went into the locker room down a goal. In the third, they got off to a bit of a slow start, killing two penalties before the seven-minute mark, but once they were able to stay out of the box, the offense stepped up, got some good looks, and Shaw eventually cashed in on one to tie the game. In OT, they got a couple nice looks that Jones stopped, but a 2-on-1 by Toews and Kane was too much for the Sharks and the Hawks took the extra point.
As I said, Crawford was on-and-off. He made a few spectacular saves, but at times looked maybe half-a-step slow. That wasn’t a surprise considering he played yesterday. Crawford’s been good lately, but I would have given this start to Darling. That Crawford was as good as he was after playing last night is commendable.
My picks for 3 stars:
★★★ Joonas Donskoi, RW, SJS (1 G, 1 A)
★★ Jonathan Toews, C, CHI (1 G (GWG))
★ Patrick Kane, RW, CHI (1 G, 1 A)
