UA-59049186-1 Blackhawks 4, Wild 3 (OT) - Good if it Goes

Blackhawks 4, Wild 3 (OT)

Box score (Yahoo)

The Blackhawks snapped an 8-game regular season losing streak to the Wild Wednesday, though the game was a bit of a wild ride. Ryan Hartman got the scoring started just under eleven minutes in off a very nice pass from Vinnie Hinostroza. Just over a minute into the second, Nick Schmaltz made it 2-0 Hawks. The Wild cut the lead to one 37 seconds after Schmaltz’s goal on a goal from Jared Spurgeon that Corey Crawford absolutely can’t give up. The Wild would tie the game 7:15 into the second on a goal from Zach Parise that shouldn’t have counted, as the play was offside. Q challenged, but the refs called it inconclusive after taking roughly a week to look at the play. What is the point of review if you’re going to get something as easy as this one wrong? Richard Panik would give the Hawks a 3-2 lead with just over two-and-a-half to play in the period that would last until just under seventeen minutes into the third when Erik Haula tied the game for the Wild on a goal that shouldn’t have happened, as Niklas Hjalmarsson was interfered with at the blue line. The game would go to OT, where Jonathan Toews would net the GWG. Puck don’t lie. (I mean, it kinda did, because the Wild got a point.)

A few things

  • Crawford made some excellent saves, including a big one in OT. Elite Crow’s still not back, because that first one was hideous, but he showed some flashes, which was nice.

My picks for 3 stars

★★★ Jared Spuregon, D, MIN (1 G)

★★ Richard Panik, W, CHI (1 G, 1 A)

★ Jonathan Toews, C, CHI (1 G (GWG), 2 A)
