UA-59049186-1 Blackhawks 5, Jets 2 - Good if it Goes

Blackhawks 5, Jets 2

Box score (Yahoo)

The Blackhawks finally beat the Jets and solved Connor Hellebuyck. Patrick Kane opened the scoring 15:37 into the first, burying a shot off a great pass from Artemi Panarin. Bryan Little tied the game early in the second for Winnipeg, but the Hawks would re-take the lead later in the period on a goal by Artem Anisimov. Much of the third went by without any goals, but with just under 3 minutes to play, Duncan Keith gave the Hawks a 2-goal lead. A little over a minute later, with the Hawks short-handed, Marian Hossa found the empty net to push the lead to 3. The Jets would get one back on the power play to cut it to 2, but the Bread Man would push it back to 3 with an empty-netter with 16 seconds to play.

A few things

  • Corey Crawford was very good and would have been one of my three stars if not for so many other Hawks having great games. Crow made several big saves and, for the first time in a long time, looked like the elite goaltender we’ve seen him be in the past.
  • While the Shake An Bake line did all the scoring, Jonathan Toews‘ line had another productive game. Tanner Kero‘s fourth line also played well.

My picks for 3 stars

★★★ Patrick Kane, RW, CHI (1 G, 1 A)

★★ Artemi Panarin, LW, CHI (1 G, 2 A)

★ Duncan Keith, D, CHI (1 G (GWG), 1 A)
